Hi! I’m Stephanie Featherston.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and my company is Hope Grows Counseling, LLC I believe in people and hope. I have a two-part philosophy of therapy and of life: we do the best we can with what we have at any given moment, and, when we are ready to change, we do. People come to therapy because something is not working and needs to change. I work with clients to build the change they want at their pace. My goal is to help you find your resolution to whatever your problem may be: depression, anxiety, relationship problems, unresolved trauma, or other life circumstances. I look forward to working with you.
I have training and experience in both counseling and theology. I have been working in mental health since 2006, and I have helped people with various types of life struggles, including mood disorders, unresolved trauma, anxiety, and relationship problems. I also enjoy helping clients explore their spirituality and how it can help and support their healing.
As much as I have learned and have experienced in my work, I am a firm believer that my clients are the experts on themselves. Therapy is a collaborative enterprise and we each bring our knowledge and experience to the table. My goal is for my clients to find their own resolutions and answers as they go through the process. I enjoy learning and growing with my clients, and I feel honored to be able to do this work.
My preferred counseling modality is Internal Family Systems: a model of therapy that helps people know, understand, and appreciate themselves and their parts. I have seen great improvement from clients' IFS work in which they gain self-esteem, self-confidence, clarity, and hope. While I have been learning about the model since 2015, I am excited to be completing the Level 1 training this year and becoming officially certified.
Therapy can be a daunting undertaking, but it can also be very rewarding. I hope you will come and walk this part of your journey with me.
